Our History
Parkview Services for Seniors is made up of three Ontario not-for-profit corporations, each established to meet important needs in our community. Together, these related but distinct entities form the foundation of Parkview’s core programs—offering something for every senior who calls Stouffville home.
The Mennonite Home Association of York County was established in 1964 to address the need for a seniors’ care home in the Whitchurch-Stouffville area. A 63-bed home opened in 1965 on Rupert Avenue, with 49 additional beds added in 1971. In 2006, the Home and its residents moved to a new, purpose-built facility on Weldon Road. Today, Parkview Home is a 128-bed Long-Term Care Home, fully accredited and continually updated to enhance care, efficiency, and comfort.
In 1984, the Parkview Village Retirement Community Association of York Region was created to offer independent senior living through a 124-unit rental apartment building at 12184 Ninth Line. This was followed in 1989 by the Parkview Village Cluster Homes for Seniors Association of York Region, which introduced life lease bungalow-style homes on the same site.
Together, the apartments and cluster homes now make up Parkview Village—a vibrant, independent living community with access to services, amenities, and supports that make aging in place possible.
