2023 Annual Report
Message from the Board Chair, Ivan Emke and CEO, Karen Gayman
We are delighted to present the 2023 Annual Report and commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Parkview Services for Seniors Annual General Meeting.
Reflecting on the past year fills us with immense pride and gratitude. At Parkview Village, we welcomed eighteen new residents and tenants, completed the first phase of the roofing project, inaugurated the Cafe, and implemented a new parking plan. Additionally, we upgraded our IT infrastructure and carried out numerous interior and exterior refurbishments.
At Parkview Home, we welcomed 52 new residents, celebrated Service Awards for employees with 5-30 years of service and completed several interior refurbishments and upgrades. We are thrilled about the opportunity to create a butterfly garden in partnership with the Town of Whitchurch Stouffville. We also continued to celebrate our community with staff, resident, and family BBQs, and the Ice Cream Truck from East Ridge Church.
The Board of Directors successfully recruited a new Chief Executive Officer and Association members to fill new and existing board positions. The Board developed a strategic plan for 2024-2028, updated its Bylaws in compliance with the Ontario Not for Profit Corporations Act, and successfully completed its financial audit for 2023. Furthermore, Parkview successfully negotiated two collective agreements with SEIU.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to our board members for their time and commitment to Parkview. We bid a fond farewell to three board members who have served the Parkview Board for many years. We also acknowledge and thank our Parkview staff members who have retired or moved to other positions, and all current Parkview team members for their commitment, compassion, kindness, and service to our residents and tenants.
We remain grateful to our generous donors who contributed to the holiday appeal at the Home and the Village, improving our programs, services, facilities, and grounds. We also appreciate members of the community who generously contributed through bequests.
These are just some of the achievements for the 2023/24 year of which we are immensely proud. None of this would have been possible without the support, dedication, and collaboration of our community. We express our sincere appreciation for being a part of the Parkview Community and for working towards our vision of a vibrant, inclusive community where every senior is empowered to thrive and live life to the fullest.
Regards
Ivan Emke, Board Chair
